The Lorax review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 25 March 2012 05:18 (A review of The Lorax)

The day I saw the advertisement of the movie even though it was not launched and with Dr Suess name on it, i decided to take my 7 year old nephew and 3 year ole niece to the movie. Yesterday it happened and I took oth of these kids to the local theatre attrium to watch the movie in 3D. It is the first time for little in niece to be in a theatre and 2nd time for nephew. Both the kids enjoyed the movie and not only them but all the kids present in the theatre enjoyed it a lot. They clapped at the end of the movie and I think Dr Suess succeed in communincating the message he wants to put across in the young minds in the fun way.

Dr. Seuss didnt afraid to provide serious messages in his books. The Lorax may not have the joy and humor of his other books but surely it left its readers with a clear message and dire warning.

The 3D CGI-animated adaptation extended further the message to the young minds specially who have to take reign of the world business in future.

Dr. Seuss’ book had a simple premise: a young boy visits the Once-ler and the Once-ler tells the tale of how his greed and ambition chopped down the forest, and how he should have listened to The Lorax, who “spoke for the trees.”

So I must say give it a try.

The Iron Lady review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 23 March 2012 03:20 (A review of The Iron Lady)

"Some one must say the unsayable."

"I will never be one of those women who stay silent on the arms of the husband, once life must matter"

Theae are the words uttered by Margrate Thatcher and she not only said that but have proved them. The Iron Lady the movie based on the former prime minster of England was a good one that sketches the life and struggle of her through out her life.

Was she reamined successful or failed the decision of course lies with not only the history but also with the people of England.

An enjoyable movie and Meryl Streep was awesome and she rightly get the Oscar for that performance. Although movie didnt get the OSCAR but it did get the nomination.

Robin Hood review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 18 March 2012 04:21 (A review of Robin Hood)

While watching Russel Crowe in Robin Hood, I momentarily went back to the movie Gladiator. Russel is a powerful actor and he manifested the same in this movie.

Russel Crowe as Robin is an archer in King Richard's (the Lionheart) army in England during the twelfth century. England’s downfall is on owing to taxation on their own people. Kingdom needs money so they take from the less powerful. After Richard killed in a battle, this injustice is taken even further when King Richard brother John (Oscar Isaac) takes over, serving the country as a tyrannical king with close friends, Godfrey (Mark Strong), in all the wrong places. Robin, along with his merry men and the aid of William Marshall (John Hurt), takes it into his own hands to reconstruct England’s laws and taxations, determined to overthrow the established values at all cost.

Robin united England Knights against the onslaught of French but as the danger evaded the King John forget his promise to make England peoples nation and declared Robin as OUTLAWS.

The Smurfs review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 18 March 2012 11:07 (A review of The Smurfs)

In a FAR AWAY LAND there is a village, filled with mysterious creatures, THE SMURFS, that live happily for hundred years, until Gargamel a wizard sneak into their village to capture them to get more powerful.

Group of smurfs escaped the village to New York and fun adventure began.

Apart from the story of Smurfs, there's a very sweet, very human story at the heart of The Smurfs involving a young couple expecting a baby, and going through all the anxiety associated with that major life change.

The punch line it is the story about, "Once in a Blue Moon, the magical moments in life that needs to be lived in."

The Secret World of Arrietty review

Posted : 12 years, 9 months ago on 26 February 2012 11:35 (A review of The Secret World of Arrietty)

Superb Animation movie with a very powerful story and magical animation. I watched the movie in Japanese with English subtitles and really enjoyed it.

It is the story of the Clock family, who are four-inch-tall people living anonymously in another family's residence, borrowing simple items to make their home. That’s why they are called BORROWERS. Life changes for the Clocks when their daughter, Arrietty, is discovered by an ailing boy who come to this house prior to going for a heart operation. The boy down himself helped the Clock family and got his inspiration from Arrietty.

I must watch movie, especially for animation fans. High FIVE.

J. Edgar review

Posted : 12 years, 9 months ago on 26 February 2012 07:45 (A review of J. Edgar)

J Edgar the movie directed by powerful Clint Eastwod and acted by Leonardo DiCaprio. This is the story about J Edgar Hoover, Director General of FBI, who served for 48 years in beureau for eight US presidents. Infact Edgar was the founder of FBI.

The movie is quite good, I wander why it didn't make it way to Oscar Nominations going to be dished out tonite.

J Edgar Hoover's character is set in stone from the time he began working for the government as a young man. He is wholly dedicated to his job, which to him is protecting the American people and the security of the nation from all threats, both foreign and domestic.
