The Help review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 21 December 2011 07:54 (A review of The Help)

"The Help" is a movie based on the big 2009 bestseller by Kathryn Stockett’s novel, that discusses the early-’60s world set in Jackson, Miss., in 1963. The beauty of the movie is that the movie itself sometimes looks like it was made in 1963.

Despite its sensitive subject matter – the injustice of black-white race relations especially in the South at the dawn of the civil rights movement – it’s a carefully manicured, almost a classic piece of moviemaking. that is both rousing and lulling.

I personally enjoyed watching this movie and have a feel that this movie will definitely shortlisted for Oscar nominations,

The Ides of March review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 11 December 2011 04:51 (A review of The Ides of March)

The Ides of March, I personally feel is definetely an OSCAR contender.

Stephen (Ryan Gosling) is a young but experienced political staffer who is the number 2 at Governor Mike Morris (George Clooney) campaign for the Democratic nomination for President. The story of Passion, Loyalty, Deception, Integerity, Honesty and Infidelety.

George Clooney is the writer, director, producer and actor of The Ides of March and he manages to juggle all the balls to pull off an entertaining and successful film. This isn't his first foray - he has produced a number of films which have a political or ideological bent.

If one likes drama, especially a political drama, a mature film with a bit of edge, check out The Ides of March.

Immortals review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 9 December 2011 03:26 (A review of Immortals)

Immortals is based upon founder of Athens, who is Theseus, one who slayed the Cretan Minotaur. There is a lot of battle scenes and the blood and gore is also plentiful. Hyperion, whom is searching for a Epirus bow. Finding this bow will release the Titans who are imprisoned at Mount Tartaros.

However for those who are familiar with Greek Mytholoy, a huge plot hole in this movie, Poseidon is suppose to be the father of Theseus but in the Immortals movie, Zeus is the father ???

Movie is overall OK and watchable.

Dolphin Tale review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 7 December 2011 05:57 (A review of Dolphin Tale)

HIgh FIVE to the movie, indeed one of my favorites. A great inspirational and motivational movie, especially recommended for those who have lost hope in life due to some tragedy.

Dolphin Tale, inspired by the amazing true story of a brave dolphin and the compassionate strangers who joined hand to save her life. The core story is about a young dolphin caught in a crab trap, severely damaging her tail. She is rescued and transported to the Clearwater Marine Hospital, where her fight for survival has just begun.

To sve the life of Winter her infected tail had to be amputated and without a tail, Winter's prognosis is dire. It will take the expertise of a dedicated marine biologist, the ingenuity of a brilliant prosthetics doctor, and the unwavering devotion of a young boy to bring about a groundbreaking miracle—a miracle that might not only save Winter but could also help scores of people around the world.

The real Winter, who plays herself in Dolphin Tale, today serves as a symbol of courage, perseverance and hope to millions of people—both able and disabled—who have been touched by her remarkable story of recovery and rehabilitation

Earth's Final Hours review

Posted : 12 years, 3 months ago on 7 December 2011 05:49 (A review of Earth's Final Hours)

Earth's Final Hours or Armageddon 2012 whatever may be the name is a Sci Fi. After dense matter from an imploded white hole hits Earth, infact permeate through the earth leading to the devastation of rotation of the planet. While the earth rotation is affected, it leads to disrupted earth magnetic field, resulting in solar storms and weired things. A group of government agents must locate a lost satellite network that is the world's only hope for survival. The tussle started with in the rank of goverment to save the earth or to go for green zone.

The idea is powerful but the production I feel is weak and the impact of the movie on viewers is not as powerful as it could be with more power visual effects and lively production.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1 review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 3 December 2011 05:25 (A review of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1)

Breaking Dawn was one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2011. The opening scene, with Jacob Black getting upset for no reason other than Bella getting married to Edward, running, shirtless obviously…with an angry look on his face.

Starting from the marriage, Breaking Dawn 1 has lot to offer, with Bella getting concieved, struggling through the gestation period, decided to move on with her baby against all odds. During the period things got hot between wolves and Edward family.

THe movie ended on the note that Bella opened her Blood Red eye, after being dead on the death bed. So keep waiting for Part 2.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 28 November 2011 03:28 (A review of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)

Four siblings -- Edmund, Lucy, Peter and Susan sent from their London home to the country estate owned by a professor in order to ensure their safety during World War II.

Professor's house was very dull, except for a secret wardrobe discovered by young Lucy during a game of hide-and-seek. Entering inside the wardrobe in the hope of finding a hiding place, Lucy is transported to a snowy alternate universe: a magical world called Narnia.

The land in the state of perpetual winter owing to curse of white witch Jadis, is populated by talking animals and ruled over by the benevolent lion Aslan.

As per the prophecy two sons and two daughters of Adam and Eve will relieve the Narnia from the spell.

Rear Window (1954) review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 27 November 2011 10:58 (A review of Rear Window (1954))

Brilliant & suspenseful as ever Alfred Hitchcock film "Rear WIndow" hangs on an unhealthy but irresistible voyeurism, by jimmy Stewart stars as an adventurous magazine photographer stuck in his apartment with a broken leg. To pass the time between visits from his nurse (Thelma Ritter) and his fashion model girlfriend Lisa (Grace Kelly), the binocular-wielding Jeffries stares through the rear window of his apartment at the goings-on in the other apartments around his courtyard.

Rear Window is among Hitchcock’s finest films. Not to be missed by any fan of classic movies. A must for Hitchcock's fans and suspense lovers.

The Adventures of Tintin review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 26 November 2011 02:03 (A review of The Adventures of Tintin)

After quite some time I re-visited cinema to watch "The Adventure if Tintin : Secret of the unicorn". Infact first time with family.

In this movie, Steven Spielberg unleashed this amazing technique of movie making..."motion capture animation ". The story line is about Tintin expedition, when Tintin (Jamie Bell) buys the Unicorn, a showpiece boat from the flea market for a pound, he was not expecting that the model is part of an unsolved puzzle.

The enigma unfolds and Tintin meets the alcholic Captain Haddock. Captain helps Tintin to solve the mystery... and find the treasure trove. However it is not an easy course, all along the way danger threatens in the form of the evil Sakharine (Daniel Craig) who is hellbent on getting the boat and wreaking his ancestral vengeance against the Haddocks.

The end of the movie prompted for the Sequel as there's more treasure lying deep down in the oceans that needs to be found.

The Darkest Hour review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 26 November 2011 01:47 (A review of The Darkest Hour)

Expected release Decemeber 23rd' 2011. Running through the movie trailer, movie seems to be quite intresting and I have added it to my "Wanna Watch" list. I hope watching it in 3D would be added fun, so brace yourself for the invisible arsonist, turning everything it touches to ash. Is there a place to run or a place to hide, fight for survival.
