American Beauty review

Posted : 12 years, 6 months ago on 12 October 2011 06:21 (A review of American Beauty)

A light movie with a tragic end. A story of an american family that ends up in a tragedy. A story of lies, deception and suspicion. The epilogue of the movie has completed shifted the mood while I was going through the movie.

Well I truly got disappointed by the movie as the movie is not upto the expectation and hype created. It could be more powerful, being a powerful plot but the sensation could not be materialized.

9 Academy Awards Winner, including the best film. One of the best movie of 20th Century, most unabashed and powerful love stories, using flawless performances, intelligent dialogue, crisp camera work, and loaded glances to attain a level of emotional connection that many similar films miss.

Contagion review

Posted : 12 years, 6 months ago on 8 October 2011 10:21 (A review of Contagion)

How would the human race collectively react to a biological catastrophe?

NOTHING SPREAD LIKE FEAR

This grim thriller follows the rapid progress of a deadly, fast-acting global airborne virus that kills within days, leaving the medical community scrambling to somehow curtail the outbreak, helmed by Oscar-winner director Steven Soderbergh and populated by an all-star cast (including Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow, among many others.

Film may be too intense and/or overwhelming for some given its stark, depictions of death and the somber, sometimes scary exploration of what it's like to live in a constant state of fear.

'The Help' is an excellent adaptation of the bestselling novel about an unlikely rebellion in a Southern town in the 1960s among black maids serving white families and one white woman who wants them to tell their life stories.
