Hostage review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 26 January 2013 03:11 (A review of Hostage)

Hostage, a movie typical for Bruce Willis, a Die Hard movie star. A negotiator in LA police, moved to small town as a Police chief, when one of his negotiation fall apart, resulting in death of a women and a child. Hoping to find a solace, he was hit by a worst scenario in the new town just after one year, when he had to save two hostage families, one of his own. Two hours of twist, drama that unfolds in the movie.

Dredd review

Posted : 11 years, 2 months ago on 25 January 2013 07:10 (A review of Dredd)

As happens in most of the movies sets in future perspective, where things got so shady and screwed up, Dredd is also a movie sets in not so good future. In US city secured in big walls, things are not so good and the law is maintained through judges. Judge Dredd is one such judge who pursue the criminal, assess and apprehend as per law. On one such day he was given a Rookie, psychic judge, who although failed her qualification test but the evaluator feels she would be handy for the institute owing to psychic abilities.

First case they set into is the triple homicide, in pursue of they case they found themselves in the heaven of Mama, a drug cartel she boss, responsible for making and distributing Slow motion, reality altering drugs. Trapped & caged in peach tree area mega building, judge Dredd and rookie, found themselves running for their lives too, in addition to apprehending culprits. Too much violence being a drug cartel movie.

The Hunt for Red October review

Posted : 11 years, 3 months ago on 18 January 2013 11:57 (A review of The Hunt for Red October)

1984 a Russian submarine, Red October, state of art one with a unique propagation system thar make it hard to detect by sonar, hits the water. Captain Ramius and his crew officer were on test mission, but the captain and his close aisdes had other intention. Defection from Russian Navy, hand over the masterpiece to USA and get political asylum.

The cat and mouse game started between Russian and Americans and also with in crew. With both American and Russian on the hunt for Red October, however one Men was clever enough to figure out the true intentions of captain Ramius.

The Impossible review

Posted : 11 years, 3 months ago on 10 January 2013 02:28 (A review of The Impossible)

Super movie based on a true story of family that not only survived & managed the odds of natural disaster of mega level. The tsunami that hits the shores of south east Asian countries creating havoc and total devastation in south east Asian countries specially Indonesia, Japan & Thailand.

The Impossible focused the gritty true story of a family that actually experienced a catastrophe – the 2004 Tsunami in South Asia – the 114 minutes smack every emotion in your body. The cinematography and acting is superb that keep the viewer glued and above all emotionally engaged as the pure horror of the situation is captured humanly possible through the lens.

The symbolic true story of a family has a happy endings but there were thousands of people fir whom this Tsunami left a scar on the soul?

The Words review

Posted : 11 years, 3 months ago on 6 January 2013 02:12 (A review of The Words)

One of the best movies, I have seen till todate. Although the ratings of movie is not that high, but I loved every moment of this movie.

Story of a person who loves "The Words" more than the woman who inspired him to write those words. Writers who had a passion to write, while one lost all in the cause, while other make fortune on the expense of some ones else work with a deep remorse when he discovered and met the original writer.

A must watch movie, I don't know whether this movie make its way to Oscars this year or not,but worth watching.

It's a Wonderful Life (1947) review

Posted : 11 years, 3 months ago on 29 December 2012 07:26 (A review of It's a Wonderful Life (1947))

Superb movie of 1946, I watched the original version of the movie in black & white. A movie with a touching story of person named George Bailey, who has lots of big dreams of his own, he wanna go big but thrown in the circumstances and for the sake of the well being of others he adapted another path helping others in need. he managed to do it wonderfully when finally at a crucial juncture he broke down and wishes to take his life.

Nature intervenes to help him and make him realise through a guardian angel, how important his life is and how much difference his contribution has made. A beautiful movie, a must watch.

Flight review

Posted : 11 years, 3 months ago on 27 December 2012 12:51 (A review of Flight)

High Five and hats off to this new sensation starring Denzel Washington. I am a big fan of him and try not to miss his power pack performance.

Flight is a great movie featuring Washington as an airline pilot, Whip Whitaker. He is hailed as a hero when he saves a plane-load of passengers during a flight gone terribly wrong. However the events got a twist when the investigation started of the case in which six people died, eventhough about hundred passengers survived. Everything is on Whip's side except his own weakness of being avid drunkard, a hardcore alcoholic and habitual drug user and he was under the influence when he landed the plane. When his drug use comes to light after a toxicology report, Whip finds himself face-to-face not only with his own addictions, but also the very real chance that he could go to jail- despite his heroic deeds.

Through out his life drinking was dear to Whip and he lied to the extent to protect it, but finally when one more lie can do the trick under investigation, he caved in.

A remarkable movie, highly recommended to be watched.

We Need to Talk About Kevin review

Posted : 11 years, 3 months ago on 25 December 2012 11:01 (A review of We Need to Talk About Kevin)

Kevin a cute little kid, had a strange rather rude connection with his mother since his birth. Kevin’s upbringing, in which a strange psychological feud is waged between mother and son from birth and as the time passed by things getting even more weired, the concerned mother pacified by the father that Kevin is just a kid. Things got more twisted with the arrival of second baby, Ashley in the family.

We Need to Talk About Kevin, Lynne Ramsay’s brilliant and bracingly assured adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s novel about a mother whose teenage son commits an unspeakable crime, one may called it a crime against humanity, I am not going to disclose it, in order to not ruin the thrill of those who haven't watch the movie yet.

The movie runs in perspective view with story of past & present running in tandem. A good movie to watch showing a psychological drama upbringing.

Resident Evil: Retribution review

Posted : 11 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2012 08:25 (A review of Resident Evil: Retribution)

Since the showing of first movie of the series in 2002, The current one the resident evil retribution is the fourth one and the way the movie ended, seems like more to come.

The Resident Evil: Retribution story picks up from the last one, where: Alice (Jovovich) and other survivors were on the tanker hoping to escape from the clutches of evil, but an Umbrella strike force attack the tanker and took Alice as hostage back to Umbrella Corporation secret facility.

As a last resort to save badly affected human race by the biohazard, a rescue mission was launched to take Alice out of the under water umberella facility and from the clutches of red queen, rest is the typical stuff the film is known for.

One thing for sure, it seldom happens that too many sequels of a movie keep the intrest of movie lovers engaged! Even with typical stuff this movie grossed more than the last one in box office.
